Worker-Owned Since 1986
Casa Nueva wasn't built by investors or a corporate chain. It was built by the people who work here. Since 1986, Casa Nueva has operated as a fully worker-owned cooperative — one of the longest-running in Ohio.
What started as a small counter-culture cantina in a repurposed building on Baker Street grew into one of Athens' most beloved institutions. Every enchilada is made from scratch. Every margarita is handcrafted. Every worker is an owner.
We source locally when possible, support the Athens community year-round, and have never wavered on the belief that business should work for the people doing the work.
