Community Programs

Beyond law enforcement, the Meigs County Sheriff's Office actively invests in the well-being and safety of our community through dedicated programs.

K9 UNIT

K9 Unit

Our K9 team supports drug detection, missing persons searches, and apprehension assistance. The unit works closely with patrol deputies and participates in school awareness programs to educate youth on drug prevention.

Dedicated SROs are assigned to Meigs County schools to provide a safe learning environment, build positive relationships with students, and serve as a bridge between law enforcement and the school community.

CCW Permit Information

The Meigs County Sheriff's Office processes Concealed Handgun License (CHL) applications for qualified Ohio residents. Applications must be submitted in person.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age (or 18 for active military)
  • Legal resident of Ohio for at least 45 days prior to application
  • Completion of an Ohio-approved firearms competency course (8+ hours)
  • No felony convictions or disqualifying misdemeanor convictions
  • No current domestic violence protection orders
  • Not under adjudication as mentally incompetent
  • Valid Ohio ID or driver's license required at time of application
  • Completed Ohio BCI application form and firearms training certificate

Valid for 5 years. Includes BCI processing fee. Payment accepted by cash, check, or money order payable to Meigs County Sheriff. Card accepted in office.

License Renewal
$50.00
Renewals accepted up to 90 days before expiration. Must present current license at time of renewal. Refresher training may be required if expired.
